CCCB Provides Ready-to-Use Social Media Assets
The CCCB Office for Evangelization and Catechesis has developed ready-to-use social media assets on the theme of evangelization for free use by archdioceses, dioceses, eparchies, ordinariates, parishes, religious orders, and educational and other Catholic institutions.
The fast pace of the digital age puts high demand on social media account managers. We hope these ready-to-use assets will promote evangelization and catechesis while increasing user engagement. Future assets will be released with each “Encounter” newsletter (Summer 2023 available here). This first lot of assets contains image packages optimized for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, webpages and colour print bulletins. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Brandan Tran at oec@cccb.ca.

The Summons - Adult Faith Formation Since 2009
The Summons begins again in September 2023. The Summons is a 10 session Archdiocesan faith formation process designed for ANY adult who desires to grow in our Catholic faith. One Saturday per month from September - June, we gather in Portage la Prairie (Good Shepherd Parish) with like-minded adults to search and go deeper into our Catholic faith. Sometimes I feel dissatisfied, restless, searching for more but I don’t know what to do or what it means? Is God saying something to me in this? How do I know what God is wanting of me? How can I deepen my faith and trust more in God? How can I grow in understanding more of my Catholic faith? How do I make sense of the struggles and trials of my life? If these questions speak to you, THE SUMMONS is calling you.
For those interested in finding out more, an information session will be held on:
Wednesday June 21 at 6:30pm at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg
Thursday June 22 at 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Parish, Portage la Prairie
Tuesday August 8 at 6:30pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg
For more information or to register, contact Fr. Eric Giddins, Director of THE SUMMONS, at 204-832-6122 summonsformation@gmail.com

World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly - July 23, 2023
The third World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated this year on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Pope Francis inaugurated this World Day to be celebrated by the universal Church each July, either on or near the liturgical Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus, to help “treasure the spiritual and human wealth that has been handed down from generation to generation.”
The theme chosen by Pope Francis for this year’s World Day is “His mercy is from age to age” (Luke 1:50), highlighting the relational interconnection between old and young. This theme is particularly well suited to the upcoming World Youth Day in Lisbon, August 1-6, 2023.
The CCCB Standing Committee for Family and Life, in collaboration with its corresponding Office, produced a 30-second video that captures a group of high school students visiting a retirement home. This heart-warming interaction between young people and the elderly illustrates this year’s theme and encourages us to find concrete and creative ways of drawing closer to the elderly.
